If you get to visit Madrid, you really can't leave without having seen El Rastro. A huge fleamarkets with more than 3000 stalls. Great browsing! I just had to be there.
Maar niet alleen de markt is leuk, ook de winkels langs de route van El Rastro zijn open en er zijn zoveel antiekwinkels, kringlopen en gewoon rommelwinkeltjes. Van mooie, sjieke zaken tot winkels waar de kratten met meuk tot aan het plafond staan opgestapeld en je maar moet zien hoe je iets vindt.
Not only the market is fun, but also the shops along the route of El Rastro are open and there are so many antique shops, vintage shops and thrift shops. Some look hip and lovely, other just have boxes and boxes stashed to the ceiling.
Maar ja, dan vlieg je dus met EasyJet en heb je alleen handbagage bij je... je weet wel, gewoon zo'n klein koffertje. Er konden dus geen enorme Maria-beelden, typemachines of transistorradio's met me mee naar huis. Jank.
And then you're flying some discount airline and are only carrying handluggage. You know, one of those tiny silly suitcases. So no giant Holy Mother statues, vintage typewriters or transistor radios went home with me. Wail.
Maar ik nam wel iets mee! Ik zag dit kleine potje staan in een kringloopwinkeltje en kon het niet laten staan. Bovendien paste het nog net tussen mijn toilettas en slippers in mijn koffertje.\
But of course I had to take sómething home! I saw this little jar in a thrift shop and I couldn't resist. Plus, it did fit right between my toilettery bag and flip flops in my tiny suitcase.
Bovendien is het ook nog eens een echt Spaans souvenir, want er staat 'Laurel' op, wat laurier betekent. Een Spaans vintage kruidenpotje dus. Top!
And since the jar reads 'Laurel' I happened to find myself a real vintage Spanish herb jar.
Ik zie er wel een plantenpotje in. Met misschien een klein roosje, of misschien wel een kruidje. Zoals het bedoeld was!
I look at it and see a little pot for a plant. Maybe a little rose or maybe a herb. Like it was meant to.
