Visiting Covilhã: the wool capital of Portugal

Eerlijk: ik had geen idee. Nietsvermoedend ging ik mee op een persreis door midden Portugal, op zoek naar verborgen steden en bijzondere street art. Helemaal mijn ding. Totdat ik in het programma las dat we de laatste dag de wol-hoofdstad van Portugal zouden bezoeken, Covilhã. En zelfs in de naam van het hotel waar we verbleven, zat 'iets' met wol. Er gingen kleine alarmbelletjes af, maar ik wachtte rustig af. Ik werd verbaasd, en hoe.

Honestly, I had no idea about this place. None at all. I was n a press trip through the centre of Portugal, looking for undiscovered cities and cutting edge street art, right up my alley. Then I turn to the program and see that on the last day we're visiting the wool-capital of Portugal, Covilhã, and even our hotel had something something wool in the name. Small alarm bells started ringing, but I sat and waited. It was an amazing surprise, I can say that.

Enjoying Quinta life in Alentejo

Toen mijn lief en ik het plan opvatten om zo'n tien dagen van onze reis in de provincie Alentejo door te brengen, riep ik meteen: maar dan wil ik wel in een Quinta! Ik had daar weleens plaatjes van gezien en het leek me ultiem rustiek en relaxt. En het mooie, dat bleek ook nog zo te zijn! Vandaar dat ik het niet kan laten om jullie even te laten meekijken tijdens ons bezoek aan deze mooie regio van Portugal.

When husband and me decided it would be great to spend a day or 10 in the Alentejo region in Portugal, I immediately shouted: I wanna stay in a Quinta! I had seen pictures of quintas and it seemed like the ultimate relaxed option. And the best thing: it absolutely was. That's whay I simply have to share my experience with you.

Nu ik het zo terugkijk vind ik het ook wel misdadig, eigenlijk.

Creative guide to colorful Porto

Mijn zomervakantie begon dit jaar in Porto. Een stad waar ik al zo veel over gehoord had en van sommige van jullie zelfs al mailtjes had gekregen (waarvoor dank, trouwens). Als ik op blogs keek, of in de reisgidsen neusde, kwam ik eigenlijk niet zo veel te weten over de stad. Ja, er is Port en de gebouwen zitten er vol met tegeltjes. En iedereen riep hoe gezellig het was. Tijd voor een ontdekkingstocht.

My summer holiday started this year at the beginning of September with flying into Porto. I had heard lots about this cities and was so curious. When I read other blogs or flipped through my guidebook, I couldn't really grasp what Porto was all about. Yes there is Port and the buildings are full with tiles called azulejos. And everyone kept saying how they loved the atmosphere. So, I had to find out for myself.
