Normaal gesproken zijn mijn lief en ik rond de Paasdagen altijd erg druk met ons balkon zomerklaar maken: tuinmeubelen onder het plastic vandaan, winterbloeiers uit de potten halen en lente- en zomerbloeiers erin. Leuke kaarsen op het balkon, nog wat leuke nieuwe potten. Dat soort werk. Maar nu het nog zo koud is, heeft dat geen enkele zin. De bloemen zouden toch maar kapot vriezen. Dus wij waren niet bij het tuincentrum te vinden op tweede Paasdag. Noch bij Ikea, noch op de meubelboulevard. Jullie wel?
Normally the husbear and me use the free time we have around Easter to work on our balcony. Normally the weather is quite well and we just love making our balcony ready for summer: take out the garden furniture, take out the winter plants and put in the summer plants and flowers. Maybe buy some new things. But not this year. It's still freezing at night. So if we would put summer plants and flowers on our balcony they would freeze and get ruined. That would be too much of a shame really. So on this Bank Holiday (in NL we have the day after Easter off) I didn't go to the garden center, nor to Ikea... Did you?
Vandaag ging ik met mijn lief uit lunchen en zocht ik online naar mooie nieuwe stoffen. Ik shop graag in Amerikaanse online shops. De keuze is er vaak net wat uitgebreider dan hier. Een van mijn favoriete online winkels om stoffen te kopen is Fat Quarter Shop. Wat een keuze daar! Vast heel herkenbaar: voordat je het weet zit je urenlang te zoeken en allerlei mooie dingen te bekijken. Oeps! De verzendkosten zijn meestal aardig fors, dus ik wacht meestal tot ik genoeg kan bestellen, zodat de kosten dan nog meevallen. Of ik probeer met meerdere naaisters één bestelling te plaatsen, zodat we die kosten kunnen delen. Net zo handig!

I love shopping in American online fabric stores, as there are so much more fabrics available than here for some reason. I especially love Fat Quarter Shop, they have so much choice! You probably know what I am talking about when I say that before I know it I have spent hours browsing online looking at all the gorgiousness.
Een van mijn favoriete ontwerpers is Michael Miller. Zijn lijn 'Shore Thing' staat bovenaan mijn lijstje om aan te schaffen. Wat kan ik zeggen: ik ben gék op flamingo's (gekke beesten!) en ik houd ook heel erg van kreeft, op mijn bord wel te verstaan. Mmm.
One of my favorite designers is Michael Miller. I love his fabric line 'Shore Thing', it's right on the top of my list to buy! What can I say: I love flamingos (silly beasts) and I am made about lobster, on my plate that is. Mmm.
