Featured in Simply Crochet 92

Lezen jullie Simply Crochet, de Nederlandse versie? Ik mag dat blad graag zo af en toe eens kopen. Het is een spinoff van de Engelse versie en laat ik deze maand nu twee keer in de Engelse Simply Crochet staat. Superleuk!

Are you readers of Simply Crochet? I do love that magazine and whenever I can get my paws on an English version, I really can't resist. And even better, I am featured twice (!) in this month's issue, number 92. What a compliment.


Ik ontwierp een heel fijne grootse sjaal voor dit nummer van Simply Crochet. Ik doopte hem de Electric Avenue Shawl, omdat ik met Electric Avenue van Eddy Grant in mijn hoofd zat toen ik deze sjaal maakte. Echt, soms zijn dingen zo gemakkelijk. Ik ging ook echt als een tierelier tijdens het maken van deze sjaal, dus dat liedje paste er ook echt bij. In het magazine is het echter de Stripe it Lucky sjaal geworden, vanwege het frisse smaragdgroene streepje erin. Ik snap het wel.

I designed a fabulous long, warm shawl for this issue of Simply Crochet. I named it the Electric Avenue Shawl, as Eddy Grant's Electric Avenue was my earworm whilst crocheting this shawl. Really, sometimes it doesn't take much creativity. The song really made me go-go-go and this shawl was done in no time, so I guess it was only right to name it after the song. The magazine has called my shawl Stripe it Lucky shawl, because of the emerald green strip. That does make perfect sense to me, too.

Ik haakte deze sjaal met Scheepjes Namaste, een superzacht garen dat in heel mooie kleuren verkrijgbaar is. De kleuren zijn allemaal naar yoga-poses vernoemd. Hilarisch, want ik weet helemaal niets van yoga. Maar het garen is echt heerlijk. Ik had nog wel 8 kleurencombinaties kunnen verzinnen voor deze sjaal, maar ging voor Happy Baby, in combinatie met Peacock, Tree en Mountain. 

I made this shawl using Scheepjes Namaste, it's an incredibly soft, chunky and beautiful yarn. The beautiful colours are all named after yoga positions, which is hilarious as I have no clue about yoga. I do, however, know my colours, and could have thought of at least eight more colour combinations in which to make this shawl. But in the end, I picked Happy Baby, combined with Peacock, Tree and Mountain.
