Gadver. Zonde van de lekkere koekjes.
Back 2006 (yes gran) I travelled to the US for the first time and got to know these yummy treats: Oreos. Of course I'd seem them on tv and the nog screen. But why on earth those actrices and acters would go elbow deep into a glass of milk with their Oreo is beyond me. Gross! Such a waist of perfectly good cookies.
Nowadays, we can also buy Oreos here in the supermarket. But I don't buy them much I have to say. Pure selfprotection. I mean, once a box is opened, one doesn't know how fast it is empty. That's all I'm saying.
But recently, when I caught myself eating a multitude of Oreos (can I blame the chick flick I was watching?) I was thinking: could I make Oreos myself? How hard can it be to actually máke them myself?
Well, it turns out. It wasn't hard at all. I found this fabulous recipe online and if you follow it: all should be good. You do need some time though, it's not a quick and dirty recipe. The only thing that was inconvenient for me is that shortening and baking soda are hard to find in The Netherlands. But I was lucky as I found both at my local oriental food shop.
Aantal calorieën in één Oreo koekje: 947. Minstens.
And for some extra Happy in Red effect I added some red food colouring to the filling, which made it bright pink. Woop! I had loads of filling left when I was done, but apparently it freezes well. So I put the remains in the freezer. I guess this filling is also pretty good for cupcake toppings or cake filling.
The number of calories in one Oreo cookie: at least 947. Seriously. So either paste it directly onto ones hips, ór only have one a week ór hand them out to all your colleagues!
