Eens in de zoveel tijd moet je eens wat nieuws leren. Gewoon om jezelf uit te dagen en omdat het leuk is. En vaak leer je ook nog leuke mensen kennen. En zo was het vandaag ook. Tijdens de workshop 'Beursjes maken', bij Elle Aime in Rotterdam.
Every once in a while you have to learn something new. Just to challenge yourself and because it's fun. And most of the time, you get to know some lovely new people. And that was the case today when I learned how to make a clasp purse at Elle Aime in Rotterdam.
De locatie was erg leuk! Ik ben niet heel erg bekend in Rotterdam, maar vandaag reed ik naar het Oude Noorden. En dat dat een bloeiende buurt is. Vol met leuke designwinkels en met Garage C. In een oud brandweerkazerne verkopen kleine ondernemers lifestyle, DIY, vintage in knusse, maar overzichtelijke shops. De moeite waard om een keer langs te gaan.
De setting was great. I'm not too familiar around Rotterdam, but I went to the Oude Noorden area which is full of fabulous design shops and creative projects. Like Garage C, where the workshop was held. It;s an old fire station where small creative shop owners rent a small pace to sell their pretty lifestyle, DIY and vintage things. Worth the visit.
Onze 'juf' was ook een bekende! Besjes!! Tjsa en als iemand in blogland weet hoe je beursjes moet maken, dan is zij het wel. Je kunt het maar het best van de meester leren. Ik heb trouwens nog véél meer leukste blogsters onmoet (Zwaait!!). Ze zijn overigens héél gewoon gebleven ;-)
Our teacher was a well known blogger too. Besjes. She really knows how to make claspy bags. They're beautiful! You better learn from the master, right? And I met some more blogster who's blog I've been reading for a while (Waves!!). And they don't suffer from theyr stardom, I swear ;-)
Ik moet zeggen: het viel me alles mee. Ik had namelijk vreselijk angst voor het frame van zo'n beursje. Hoe moest dat er dan op en zou alles dan niet scheef trekken en hoe moet je dan met zo'n patroon aan de gang? Dat werd dus allemaal keurig uitgelegd. En het begin met de naaimachine ging ook erg snel. De laatste loodjes, het frame op het tasje naaien, is het lastigst. Maar het is gelukt, ik heb niet eens gehuild ;-)
I have to say: it was not as difficult as I hought it would be. I really had 'fear of the clasp', they sure look scary don't they. But all in all it wasn't too difficult. The pattern pieces and sewing them was quite easy. hand stitching on the frame on the bag was the most time consuming, but doable for sure. I made it and didn't even cry! ;-)
En aan het einde van de rit moet je natuurlijk wel even elkaars schitterende werk bewonderen. Mogen jullie raden welke van mij is.
And when everyone is finished, of course you have to oooh and aaah, about each others work. Now you guys guess which one is mine.
