5 fun things to sew with felt

Ken je dat, dat je in je stapel stoffen kijkt en dat je denkt: hoe kom ik toch aan die enorme stapel vilt? Die heb ik ongetwijfeld een keer zelf aangeschaft... en waarschijnlijk ook weer verdrongen. Maar wat is vilt toch eigenlijk leuk, en mooi, en gemakkelijk. Je kunt gewoon een beetje op de bank hangen en terwijl je een serie kijkt iets in elkaar knutselt. Fijn, als je er zo over nadenkt. Ik was dus op zoek naar vilt-inspiratie en vond deze 5 patronen te leuk om niet te delen.

Seriously, I must've bought it at some point, but I have surpressed the memory of buying it. Scary. Anyway, it just dawned on me how wondeful and pretty and soft felt is. And easy to work with too. You can just sit in front of the TV, Netflix the night away and make your felt project. I like that. So, this triggered me to get some felt-inspiration and these 5 free sewing pattern just stood out. I love them, and I hope you do too.


Al bladerend door mijn oude exemplaren van Mollie Makes kwam ik op vilten cactussen terecht. Leuk zijn ze hè. Best wat werk om ze te maken, maar ik zie ze zo bij mij op de boekenplank staan! En ze hebben geen water nodig, hoera!

Whilst flipping through my old Mollie Makes issues I saw felt cactii, Aren't they just adorable. They do seem like a lot of work, but I bet they go grwat on my bookshelve, plus I don't need to water them. Hurray! 

Oké, misschien wat gemakkelijk om te beginnen. Dit ijsje, kun je als boekenlegger gebruiken. Schattig toch! De tutorial is in het Italiaans en Engels, maar daar kom je wel uit als je naar de foto's kijkt.

Alright, let's start with something more easy. Like this cute felt ice cream. You can use it as a bookmark, how clever. The tutorial is in Italian and English, and there are some good step-by-step photos too. 

Altijd al verkleed willen gaan als beer, wasbeer of konijn? Nee? Ik ook niet eigenlijk (hoewel, bij één van mijn vorige werkgevers was ik graag op maandag als wasbeer binnen gekomen... anyhow), maar deze maskers zijn wel heel cool en gemakkelijk om te maken. Misschien geinig voor een kinderfeestje of een verkleedfeestje?

Have you always wanted to dress up like a bear, racoon or rabbit? No? Well, me neither (although one of my former eomplyers could have done with a little racoon-Monday, I am telling you... anyway). These masks however are very cute and easy to make. So put them on your list for your next fancy dress party. 

Waar stoppen jullie je mobiele telefoon in? Ik had ooit een hoesje dat een giraffe was (ja, met knuffelhoofd en al!), maar daar past mijn smartphone niet in. Mopper. Aangezien ik nogal van reizen houd, vind ik dit telefoonhoesje echt een topper. Het applique werk lijkt mij een beetje puzzelen, maar daar kom ik vast wel uit.

So tell me guys, where do you put your phone. I used to have a case that was a giraffe. No really, stuffed giraffe head and all! But my smartphone doesn't fit into it. Big, big bummer. So that's why I love this felt phone case. So easy to make, though the applique business seems a little fiddly. Oh well, nothing I can't handle!

Ik heb iets met regendruppels. Vraag me niet waarom, want het is bijzonder naar om in een regenbui te fietsen of hardlopen. Maar stoffen met regendruppels, kleding met regendruppels en zelfs behang met regendruppels... ik vind het top! Etsy staat vol met schattige vilten wolkjes met vilten druppels, de één nog schattiger dan de ander. Maar gelukkig vond ik ook deze gratis tutorial. Rain drops keep falling on my head...

I have this thing for raindrops. Not that I love rain mind you, it sucks when I get rained on whilst running or cycling. But fabrics or clothes or even wallpapter with raindrop design. Gah, I love those! Etsy is full of cute felt cloud and raindrop patterns, once cuter than the other. Lucky for me, I also found a free tutorial for one! Let those raindrops fall on my head!
