A cute little bear, part one

Crochet bear cowl

One of the disadvantages of making this adorable bear ear cowl is that I don't have an equally cute little model to do some showing off. Lucky for me, I was making this cowl for the daughter of my old neighbour and she was kind enough to send me some pics. Shown on such a cutie pie you can't say anything but 'awww' right?

As you can see, the cowl is on the large size. The pattern can be made for different sizes and sinxe this cutie pie is almost 3 years old I picked the size for 2-4 year olds. I'm pretty sure a size smaller would've only 'just' fitted her (if at all), so this way she can enjoy her cowl for another cold season.

Last week there were some questions about the pattern, so here we go:
You need 4 balls of Scheepjes Peru to make this bear cowl, it's such a soft yarn!
You use a 9 mm hook
Here's the crochet pattern, there's also a knitting pattern

En wat vinden jullie?
So, what do you think?

Working on a couple of bears

Sometimes I find it funny why people reach out to me for crochet things. My old neighbour found a lovely woolen cowl with ears. I think she found it online or in a magazine. She searched allover, but couldn't find one shop that sold something similar. She e-mailed me asking me if I could make one. And I instantly recognised the pattern.

Source!
The fun thing was that my old neighbour send me a picture of the knitted version, and I am not a very big knitter. So I was extremely happy the same pattern came in a crochet version. Aren't this the cutest things you've ever seen?

Wow!

I often have trouble figuring out what yarn to use when I buy a pattern. Some patterns only say 'Bulky' or Worsted' and that's all Greek to me to be honest. Or yarn gets recommended that I just can't get here. So I took a look at the hook size and searched for a yarn to match. I decided on Scheepjes Peru, which is 20% alpaca and 80% micro and just so incredibly soft! Like a proper bear. When I was making my last project with hook 7 I thought this was big, but this project absolutely beats it with hook 9 mm. Wow, that's huge!

The bears are coming along swiftly I must say. So, are you guys curious about the result yet?
