...and a Give Away winner!

Het is geweldig om dingen voor andere te maken. Tassen, dekens, mutsen, sjaals. Dat vind ik echt heel erg leuk. Het doet me goed om te zien dat er mensen zijn die handgemaakt ook weer wat meer waarderen en, als ze het zelf niet kunnen of er te weinig tijd voor hebben, er geen punt van maken om iets handgemaakts bij iemand te bestellen. Maar nu zijn alle opdrachten te deur uit en kon ik weer eens iets voor mezelf maken.

It's fabulous to make something for someone else. Bags, blankets, scarves, hats. I really love doing that and it warms my heart to see more and more people appreciating hand made items. It seems like they, if they don't know how to make things theirselves or don't even have time to do so, they don't mind asking other for unique handmade items. But now, all my custom orders are send off and I finally had time to make something for me.

Even wat nieuws ontwerpen en dan met een dikke naald en zulke fijne merinowol aan de slag. De wol vond ik gewoon nog ergens onderin mijn verzameling. Zonde om niet te gebruiken.

Just designing something new and croheting along with a big fat hook and lovely soft merino wool. I found the wool on the bottom of my stash and it seemed like such a waiste not to use it.

Zondag is bij ons de laatste tijd echt 'soep dag', geen idee waardoor dat zo is ontstaan. Meestal zijn we op zondag de hele dag lui en heb ik althans geen zin meer om uitgebreid in de keuken te staan. Dus: met een kop soep lekker op de bank een film kijken. Echt heerlijk. Er is absoluut een nieuwe favoriet op soepgebied, die is héél lekker, ontzettend gemakkelijk te maken en het lijkt net alsof je er heel veel moeite voor gedaan hebt. 

Sunday has become 'soup day' in this house, for some reason. I think because we are lazy buggers every Sunday and I don't feel like cooking. So, the best thing is just to veg on the couch with a mug of soup and to watch a movie. Trust me, it's good. I made a new favorite today. It's really yummy, absolutely easy to make and it looks like you went trough a whole lot of trouble.

Maar liefst 58 reacties kwamen er binnen op de Give Away, wat super zeg! Daar waren zowel Angela als ik behoorlijk van onder de indruk. Het was erg leuk om over al jullie vakantieplannen te lezen. Die van mij mogen er ook zijn: ik ga met mijn lief door Marokko trekken en heb er héél veel zin in. Ook heb ik nog een werktrip voor de boeg.

Blissful Sunday...

...and Give Away winners!

De brug stond open, de hond at het op, mijn wekker deed het niet... nee, smoesjes! Ik weet dat ik eigenlijk de Give Away winnaars bekend zou maken. Maar ik had geen zin. Tsja, dat heb je soms. Ik zat namelijk een zalige, heerlijke zaterdag in Amsterdam met mijn lief. Dus dan schieten dingen, zoals Give Away winnaars bekend maken, er weleens bij in.

The bridge was open, the dog ate it, my alarm didn't work... oh, excuses, excuses! I know I was supposed to announce the Give Away winners yesterday. But the thing is. I didn't feel like it! Yep, that's right. I was spending my lovely Saturday in Amsterdam with me love. So announcing Give Away winners was very far from my mind.

Ik ging even langs Laura Dolls, de meest geweldige vintage winkel van Amsterdam! Granny square dekens, vintage bedden- en linnengoed, cocktailjurken en schitterende jasjes. Je kijkt er je ogen uit. Helaas vinden wel meer mensen die een geweldige winkel, want erg goedkoop is hij niet (meer).

I was shopping at Laura Dolls, the most fantastic vintage shop of Amsterdam! Granny square blankets, bed linen, cocktail dresses and fabulous coats. It's just too much. Unfortunately, lots of people like this shop. 'Cause it isn't exactly cheap (anymore).

En we sloten de dag natuurlijk af met een glaasje op een leuke stek. De stek krijgt meestal onze ultieme goedkeuring als er ook een kat rondwandelt en dat was hier zo. Zo'n zoete poes. Een beetje op een barkruk luieren, pootjes wassen en haarscherp in de gaten houden wie er misschien een lekker hapje heeft. Geef mij zo'n leven.

And of course we ended the day with a glass of something nice and a great place. We like the place even better when there's a cat. And there was a pretty cat here, such a sweetie. Laying around on a bar stool, washing the paws and eyeing up people who may have a treat. What a life, I'l have one of those thank you!

Winter Time Give Away Winner!

Ik houd niet van smoesjes. Ik had geen spoedgeval, de hond had het niet opgegeten en de brug stond ook niet open. Nee, ik ben het gewoon vergeten. Gisteren zou ik jullie laten weten wie de winnaar was van de Give Away, maar ik ben het dus helemaal vergeten. Waarheid is dat ik echt een rotweekend achter de rug heb, zo eentje waarvan je denkt: nou, die hadden ze mogen houden van me. Maar, ik ben er weer. Met heel veel koppen thee en een bakje yoghurt kom ik weer langzaam op gang.

I don't like excuses. I didn't have an emergency, the dog didn't eat it and I was trapped in front of an open bridge. Nah, I just forgot. I was supposed to let you know yesterday who won the Give Away. But I completely forgot. Truth be told I had a miserable weekend. One of those weekends that makes me think that it sure wasn't worth the hassle. But anyway, I am back. And slowly, with lots of tea and some yoghurt I am coming back to life.

Blissful, creative, sunny Sunday

En toen was het ineens weer Pinksterweekend, na de vrije dagen met Hemelvaart, Koninginnedag en Pasen. Ik moet zeggen: deze lange weekenden, ik kan er wel aan wennen. Zeker als het zulk lekker weer is als dit weekend. Gisteren nog bij mijn ouders in de achtertuin, maar vandaag moest ik toch echt terug naar Good Ol' Utrecht.

And here we are, Whit Sunday. It's a bank Holiday here, so another 4 day weekend for me. And I've had quite some of those lately thanx to Assumption Day, Queensday and Easter. It's so nice, I can get used to it. Especially with gorgious weather like this. Yesterday I lazed the day away in my parents garden, but today I really had to be here, in Good Ol' Utrecht.

Want vandaag organiseerde De Utrechtse Fabriek weer creatieve markt in het Griftpark. Vorig jaar ontdekt en nog steeds fan: vintage, retro, handgemaakt. En dat zonnetje vandaag erbij. Blij blij blij. Bovendien super om eens de gezichten achter een aantal webshops te zien.

'Cause today De Utrechtse Fabriek organised a great creative market in one of the parks in town. I discoverd it last year and I'm still a big fan: vintage, retro, handmade, supplies. What's not to love! And on a sunny day like this, I could not be happier. It's so much fun to see some faces behind those webshops.

Veel leuke kraampjes weer dit jaar. En zoveel mooie mensen ook. Moet je zien hoe schitterend deze dames eruit zien!

Many lovely shops this year, once again. And so many bee-ootiful people. I mean, just look at how gorgious these two ladies look.

Ik moest bij de hilarische knuffels een beetje denken aan Barbapapa, maar dat ligt vast aan mij. Ik mocht mezelf niet al te hard naar buiten gaan aan knoopjes en speldjes. Ja ja, ik kan me heus wel inhouden als het moet. Wilskracht dames, wilskracht!

These hilarious stuffed toys made me think of Mr. Blobby, but that's probably me. I didn't allow myself to dig out my purse and buys loads of buttons and pins. See, I can hold back. Really I can. Willpower ladies, lots of willpower!

 

Héle mooie kussens met gehaakte details van dik garen! En ik ben ook gek op de kaarten (rechts) en de theedoeken (rechtsonder) met allemaal leuke Londense stadsbussen erop!

Really lovely pollows with crochet details of very heavy yarn. Like. I also love the cards on the right and the tea towels in the corner, right below. They had red London busses on them!

Als je morgen in de buurt van Utrecht bent: ga vooral even langs, tis supergezellig.
